Hi… Welcome to Copperfield Smile Center!

I wanted to introduce myself to you. I think you would probably like to know something about me, since I will eventually know so much about you!!

I am originally from Cleveland, Ohio… yes, I have heard most of those jokes and some… okay many… of them are true!

I love football, but I assume at this point in my life the Cleveland Browns will not win a Super Bowl… so, at least I have the Ohio State Buckeyes and of course the Texans! I didn’t go to Ohio State… I graduated from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, which is not a military school even though it sounds like it should be!

I originally had a dental practice in downtown Cleveland for several years and then moved to Houston in 1996.

I went from a lot of cold and no traffic to… well, you know!

My husband, Jim, is VP/GM for a company called Fireside Hearth and Home… they manufacture and install fireplaces both commercial and residential. He works in Charlotte, NC and travels a lot… mostly back and forth to Houston! He is originally from Michigan (yes, we have that Michigan/Ohio State rivalry going!) We were married in Folly Beach, SC, right outside of Charleston… which is one of my most favorite cities.

I have 2 children from a previous marriage… although, they are young men now. The oldest is 19 and the youngest is 18. Both are on the autistic spectrum and at very opposite ends of that spectrum! Aidan is the oldest. He is mostly nonverbal and attended CyFair High School. He “graduated” from Life Skills in May of 2017. He will continue going to CyFair but will be in a special program called VITAL which will teach him more about daily independent living. Aidan taught me to truly be patient and humble and he changed my whole outlook on what things are most important in life.

My youngest, Dominic, is more Asperger’s. He is a senior at CyFair High School. He has an amazing memory… which he uses on me when he reminds me about the promises I have made to him! He is also a crazy good artist and has a strong interest in architecture. He has been a wonderful friend and teacher for Aidan.

We have 2 English Springer Spaniels, Sam and Jake. We jokingly call them the McDougall’s because they are constantly stumbling over each other!

Our family time is spent mostly in Lake Livingston on the weekends… our escape from the city! We like the simple pleasures… the serenity of the lake, the beautiful sunsets… and listening to the bug zapper!

I can certainly think of plenty of places you would rather be than at the dentist! So, thank you for coming to see us and for being a patient here. We will take great care of you! And, I look forward to hearing your story.
